Where did you grow up, and what brought you to Harrisonburg?

I am originally from Sallis, Mississippi, a small rural town where everyone knows everyone. In this tight-knit community, there's a unique charm that comes from the familiarity among residents, creating a sense of belonging and connection. Life in Sallis moves at a slower pace, allowing for the development of lasting relationships and cherished traditions that define the character of the town. During my childhood, my family moved to three different towns because of my dad's work as a pastor. Our final stop together was Fayetteville, Arkansas, a place that became pivotal in my journey. It was here that I developed a deeper connection to my faith and came closer to Christ. I graduated high school, began my college education, and took my first steps into the workforce by working at a local Baptist church as a nursery and toddler-age teacher. These experiences shaped my values and helped to solidify my passion for nurturing and guiding young children in their early spiritual development. Once I was on my path with the Lord and getting my college education I met my husband. Once we were married we decided to move to Harrisonburg VA to finish our college education together but more importantly to be closer to my step son so we can be in his life more.

How does your faith happen in your daily life?

My faith is woven into the fabric of my daily life in various ways. It begins each morning with quiet moments of reflection and prayer, setting a positive tone for the day ahead. Throughout my day, I seek to embody my beliefs in my interactions with others, striving to show kindness, compassion, and understanding. Whether it's at work, with friends, or in my community, I aim to be a source of support and encouragement, drawing inspiration from the teachings that guide me.

What is a fun fact about you that may surprise people?

A fun fact that may surprise people is that I hold a special admiration for John Wayne! Not only do I appreciate his iconic roles in classic Westerns, but I also admire his larger-than-life persona and the way he embodied American grit and spirit.

What’s the most inspiring part of your job?

As a nursery coordinator, the most inspiring part of my job is witnessing the growth and development of each child. Watching them take their first steps, form friendships, and express their creativity brings immense joy. It's incredibly rewarding to create an environment where they feel safe, loved, and encouraged to explore.

If I could invent a holiday, it would definitely involve:

"The Nightmare Before Christmas" and be called "Halloweencember." This whimsical holiday would blend the spooky fun of Halloween with the festive cheer of Christmas, allowing fans of both holidays to come together in a celebration of creativity and imagination.

If we held a talent show, I’d wow everyone with:

My singing talent. From the moment I stepped onto the stage, it could turn out really well or not so well, but the thrill of the moment would be undeniable. I’d feel a rush of excitement, nervousness, and anticipation as I prepared to share my passion for music with the audience.
