Waffles and the Word

LCM hosts a weekly Bible Study on the JMU campus to give students an opportunity to grow closer together as we engage in God’s Word. We love to ask big questions and learn new things about the text, but it’s also a great opportunity to check in on and encourage one another during the week. We’ll gather in D-Hall for a Bible Study over breakfast. (If you don’t have a meal plan, don’t let that be a barrier! Talk to Pastor Alex, and we’ll help out.)

9th through 12th graders are invited to join us for a Youth Group Lock-In at the church. In classic lock-in style, we’ll stay overnight at the church and have time for fellowship, growing closer, sharing meals, playing games, and wrapping it up by getting to worship together. You are welcome to bring friends. If you plan to attend or have questions, please contact Pastor Alex.

Lay Assisting Ministers Lunch

A thank you lunch for all Lay Assisting Ministers (LAMs) and for those who might consider serving as a LAM will be in Wayland Hall. We will review best practices and give thanks for those who are serving. If you are feeling called to consider this ministry, please join us! LAMs prepare and lead the Prayers of the People, set up communion before the service and clean up afterward, and assist the pastors in various parts of the service. Liturgy is the “work of the people,” and we would love to have more people involved in this work! Come join us for lunch — no commitment required! If you have questions, contact Mary Elizabeth Skinner (homeofjuno@msn.com).

Confirmation Family Dinner

Affirming our baptisms is not just something for youth! All of God’s people are called to gather around the Word and grow together into our vocation as Christ’s disciples. To that end, everyone is invited to join us Sunday, September 7, 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the Nielsen Room for Confirmation Class with confirmands and their parents/guardians. Our first gathering will feature the return of BIBLE OLYMPICS! We’ll share a meal, learn a bit more about this year’s Confirmation process, and have fun together in a spirited competition to show our skills in navigating and utilizing the Bible for faithful study. Earn medals, make friends, and support our confirmands in their journey to affirming their baptisms.
