Our Annual Congregational Meeting will be Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 12:15 pm in the MAC. We’ll share a potluck meal, fellowship, and church business together. I hope all voting members will make every effort to attend in person or by Zoom (non-members are very welcome to attend, but are unable to vote).

At this meeting we will review and approve the 2026 Ministry Spending Plan and elect new council members and a trustee. Materials can be found on our webpage (link above) or you can pick up a hard copy at church.

A quorum of at least 10% of voting members is required for a congregational vote to occur. But we hope everyone will plan to attend this gathering to participate in the life of our community here at Muhlenberg!

The Annual Meeting will include a potluck meal. To ensure we have a variety of food, we recommend those whose last name starts with…

        A-K: bring side dish

        L-O: bring casserole, chili, soup, or meat

        P-Z: bring dessert

If you have a signature dish you prefer to share, please feel to bring it instead.  Drinks will be provided. You do not need to bring a dish to attend.

The Children’s Choir and the Youth Ensemble will begin rehearsing Sunday, November 9 and continue each Sunday through December 21. Both groups will participate in worship the second Sunday of Advent (December 7) and at the 4:00 pm Christmas Eve service.

Stories matter in our lives of faith. Join a master storyteller to learn how to craft your own story, and attend a special live storytelling event!

STORY SLAM
November 14 - 6:30-9:30pm

Join the Muhlenberg community for a special evening celebrating storytelling! Several participants from the week will share 5-minute, true personal stories related to a given theme. There will be food, music, and more! Child care for age 12 and under is provided.

Lutheran Campus Ministry hosts a weekly Bible Study on the JMU campus to give students an opportunity to grow closer together as we engage in God’s Word. We love to ask big questions and learn new things about the text, but it’s also a great opportunity to check in on and encourage one another during the week. This week we will begin a new 5-week bible study called Revelation as Resistance, diving into one of the strangest corners of scripture to see what the Book of Revelation has to say in our world today.

WORKSHOP 1 - ”Practicing the Craft”

Come learn tips and tricks, techniques, things to avoid, and everything else you’ll need to make your stories sing. This session will be full of examples and opportunities for you to practice the craft of storytelling. This is the perfect place to start, even if you missed the previous workshops in May! Lutheran Campus Ministry hosts a weekly Bible Study on the JMU campus to give students an opportunity to grow closer together as we engage in God’s Word. Join us for a 25-minute worship service the first Wednesday each month. All are welcome, with a special emphasis on including those who have mobility challenges. A light lunch will be provided afterward for a time to share food and fellowship. The Care Committee will coordinate rides to and from the service. Youth and their families will come together for monthly classes and fellowship to learn more about specific topics on the confirmation journey, and discuss how we live out our lives as disciples across generations. This class will happen on the 1st Sunday of each month from 6:00–8:00pm with dinner provided. Confirmation students and their parents/guardians are expected to attend this class. The class is also open to anyone in the congregation who would like to learn about the foundations of the Lutheran faith alongside our confirmands and continue the lifelong journey of Affirming our Baptisms! If you are interested in being a part of the confirmation class and/or helping to provide monthly meals, contact Pastor Alex.

For years, Muhlenberg has collected donations for the pantry, and we are excited to announce that collections continue on the first Sunday of each month! Bring your donations to the Gathering Area - monetary donations are also appreciated and help the pantry purchase food and perishable items as needed at a reduced price. You can make a check payable to “Muhlenberg Lutheran Church” with “Patchwork Pantry” noted. Donations of nutritious, non-perishable foods and personal care items are requested. Acceptable items include:

From 2:00-4:00 pm, children of all ages will have the opportunity to “trick or treat” around cars parked in the Ott St. and Muhlenberg Activity Center parking lots. Adults and groups are encouraged to sign up and use their creativity to decorate their trunks and have a chance to win the “Trunk Cup”. We will have snacks, hot cider, games and more! Foster Love Ministries is excited to share about their mission to support at-risk and foster-placed youth in our community, and how Muhlenberg can be part of this powerful work through CarePortal. CarePortal is a technology platform that connects local Department of Social Services caseworkers to churches, allowing them to respond to real-time needs of children and families in our community. Since launching in Harrisonburg–Rockingham County this past June, churches have already served over 55 children, meeting urgent needs like beds, car seats, clothing, and relational support. This is an incredible opportunity to tangibly love our neighbor with the mission field quite literally right outside our church doors.
